PDO Upcoming Notification
Here is a sweet news for the aspirants of state government jobs. Rural Development and Panchayath Raj Department (RDPR) is filling the vacancies of Panchayat Development Officer (PDO), Gram Panchayat Secretary (Grade-I) and Gram Panchayat Secretary (Grade-II) and Account Assistant Grade II in all Gram Panchayats of the state. The recruitment of posts has been started and the notification of recruitment (PDO Recruitment 2023) will be released soon.
In the wake of complaints that development work is not being done at the Gram Panchayat level due to the vacancies of PDO and Secretary posts, the government has decided to appoint these posts as soon as possible.
The Director of Panchayat Raj Commission of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department has written a letter to the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of all Zilla Panchayats in the state on June 15 and requested them to send the information of the vacant posts immediately i.e. by 4 pm on June 17. After receiving this information, the department will submit a proposal to the government after looking at the number of vacancies.
How many posts can be recruited?
The previous BJP government had proposed to appoint 570 Panchayat Development Officers (PDOs). In response to a question raised in this regard in the assembly session held last February, the government said that steps will be taken to start the recruitment process as soon as possible. But this recruitment process never started.
As per last year government report, 851 Panchayat Development Officer (PDO), 390 Gram Panchayat Secretary (Grade-I) and 697 Gram Panchayat Secretary (Grade-II) posts are vacant in the state. The number is likely to be even higher.
In 2016, 815 PDOs and 809 Gram Panchayat Secretaries were appointed, but there has been no re-appointment for the last six years. Therefore, the number of vacant posts has increased and it is being said that it is doubtful that all the posts will be appointed at once. 4,96,873 candidates participated in the recruitment process in 2016. 3,62,899 candidates appeared for the exam.
Who has a chance?
Candidates who have graduated or equivalent from a recognized University are eligible to apply for the post of PDO and Gram Panchayat Secretary (Grade-I). Candidates who passed Secondary PUC can apply for the posts of Gram Panchayat Secretary (Grade-II) and Accounts Assistant Grade II.
Minimum age limit of candidates is 18 years and maximum is 35 years. Age relaxation of five years for SC/ST candidates and three years for OBC candidates.
What is the salary?
Gram Panchayat Development Officer (PDO) Post Pay Scale: Rs. 37,900-70,850
Gram Panchayat Secretary (Grade-I) Post Pay Scale: Rs. 27,650-52,650
Gram Panchayat Secretary (Grade-II) Post Pay Scale: Rs. 21,400-42,000
Pay Scale for Accounts Assistant Grade II: Rs. 21,400-42,000
How to hire?
Recruitment is done on the basis of percentage of marks scored in the competitive examination. Interview will not be conducted for any of these posts.
Earlier, the competitive examination conducted for recruitment to PDO posts consisted of two question papers. Question Paper-1 was related to General Knowledge. There will be a total of 100 questions and this exam will be conducted for 200 marks. Another paper-2 will also have 100 questions and carry 200 marks. But this time there are possibilities of change.
The recruitment process in 2016 was conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA). But this time it is likely that Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) will be entrusted with this recruitment process. If this is done, the Commission will conduct the examination for these posts in the same manner as for the appointment of Group "C'' posts. For Group C posts, the exam will be conducted for 100 marks instead of 200 marks.
